This modpack has been discontinued. I will update it with a new modpack.jar to fix the issue of it loading vanilla Minecraft but otherwise, there will likely be no further updates for it. I have, however, spent the past year or so working on the new 1.19.2 version: LoreCraft Evolution. It is now nearly 100% complete and is entirely stable with a white-list server now available for those who are interested in applying! Download the modpack here: https://www.technicpack.net/modpack/lorecraft-evolution.1982325
And join the Discord to apply for the server! Thank you all for your continued support.
I was very excited to try this modpack, it seemed like exactly what I was looking for. Sadly, this is not the case. It's like it's trying to be RPG RLcraft without understanding what makes RLcraft fun. For one thing, there are mobs in RL that are crazy strong, but you can use and craft whatever you find immediately. This is not the case in LoreCraft. I have boss skeletons spawning 15 blocks from me, they can run at superspeed and basically one shot me, and the armor I find that might be able to help I can't equip because I'm not "skilled" enough yet. This is a design conflict, do you want crazy strong creatures to spawn early on and frequently? Then I have to be able to deal with them somehow. Do you want an RPG experience akin to elder scrolls with slower more meaningful progression? Then I have to be able to deal with the threats I'm put up against. How am I supposed to make any progress when I die to creatures I stand no chance against and my skill experience keeps getting reset? You might think "Izzmonster, just fight weaker mobs, you don't have to fight the strong ones yet" and that's the thing, there is no way for this to work. Here I am clearing out a camp of barbarians when a fkn cat girl comes up from behind me completely silently and 2 shots me before I have a chance to react. Good bye combat experience. Guess I'm stuck with wooden swords still, even though I have 7 different stronger weapons in my inventory and I've had to pass up several pieces of armor. Now, I can use gold weapons for some reason, and they do a moderate about of damage, but they don't last long enough for them to be useful. I've got creatures with health in the thousands and I can't get it down by 1000 before my only good weapon breaks and it's back to wood.
Thank you very much for your feedback and I agree that it is 100% valid. These are all things I hope to remedy with the next major update. I have spent the past two months working tirelessly on the next release and I am quite confident you'll find it to be a massive improvement. Much has been added, even more has been tweaked or reworked and certain things (such as restrictions placed on the usage of tools, weapons, equipment, etc have been removed until I have a more reasonable and consistent implementation completed. Which is something else I have been working on but I digress...)
I do appreciate you taking the time to type this comment out as it confirmed many of my own concerns with the modpack. I only hope that with the next update of Lorecraft, which will be published within the next 72 hours at the latest, you might be open to giving it another try and sharing your thoughts! I think you'll find it an entirely different (as well as enjoyable and refreshing) experience. If there is anything else about the modpack you'd like to see changed or built-upon then please feel free to let me know. ^^
Thought of adding ancient warfare?
also got a discord?
I wanted to add it so very badly (as I had it in the 1.12.2 version) but unfortunately it is not available for 1.16.5 and I'm not sure when it will be. I will, however, most likely be putting together a separate 1.12.2 version of this modpack which will definitely include it. And yes, I do! It is Otectus#6533 and although there is currently no Discord server, I will be creating one later today.
Hey when will the offical Server launch ?
It should be ready within 4-6 weeks.
I apologize for the constant updates but I've been actively trying to work LoreCraft into one befitting a server rather than what I want it to actually be. I am currently reworking the entire modpack and making sure every setting and detail is 100% perfect and functioning as intended. This may take as long as a week but it will be the final update (3.0) that I will release for a while. I will also be creating a separate modpack with a similar feel but more optimized for use on servers. This next update will include Essentials support, allowing a wide variety of social features otherwise impossible! Such as playing in worlds with friends without the need for LAN or other workarounds. Stay tuned!
I love this modpack so much, it's everything I was looking for. I can't wait for the next update
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! I'm actually working on, and nearly finished with, a major new update to the modpack. This update will use MC 1.16.5 but will have a similar (if not superior) experience to the 1.12.2 version. I also believe people should run into far less issues with this one.
Great modpack, but this last update seems to have caused the animals in the modpacks (ie: Panthers) to become invisible. Only vanilla mobs and monsters like the cockatrice are visible. Is there a fix for this?
Yes, I'm aware that the last release was a buggy mess. A mess that I have just about cleaned up. I'll be uploading version 3.5 soon!
I'm aware that there seems to be an issue with the tick rate of the mod pack but I am currently working to fix it.
