Old But Iron V2
Welcome to the Old But Iron V2 modpack! This pack is a nostalgic journey back to Minecraft 1.7.10, featuring many classic mods that aim to provide an exciting and refreshing experience for players.
Tips
Below are some general tips that will help you when playing this modpack.
Storage
- Expanded storage chests are expensive but accessible after acquiring a diamond pickaxe. They should be large enough to last you till AE2. AE2 is accessible immediately after being able to consistently generate power.
- 4k, 16k and 64k AE2 cells are significantly cheaper
- If you want a backpack, satchels can be made in the early game, and backpacks after the wither has been defeated.
Progression
- Botania, Thaumcraft and blood magic can all be immediately started.
- Thermal expansion machines require the BuildCraft laser and assembly table to craft the diamond chipset. This requires a diamond, redstone and quite a bit of power.
- Biomass can be created after unlocking thermal expansion, then biogas engines burning biomass are a super efficient infinite source of energy.
- You need to progress decently far into the twilight forest and thermal expansion before the blast furnace becomes obtainable.
- Torcherino's can be used to speed up many processes by increasing the tick rate in a specific area.
Energy
- Thermal Expansion energy generation and storage is disabled, use different methods like the rotational dynamo or forestry.
- Buildcraft combustion engines with fuel in them are very efficient but can explode if not properly cooled. RotaryCraft ethanol produces energy twice as fast but provides only 1/4th the energy per bucket.
Bugs
- If chunks are not reloading, press f3+a
World
- Default world should always be used. This includes all biomes.
- Dynmap is enabled by default and can be viewed in a webbrowser at http://localhost:8123. When hosting a server this can be used to share the explored areas with other players.
