The new update broke my game. Gets to CoFHcore on load up and crashes. I was really enjoying this modpack before but there is no way to roll back to previous version.

I'm not sure how it could break your game as there have been no changes to the mods themselves. Mostly the HQM book and some added items via Customitems along with some recipe changes. Having said that, if you really can't run the new update then you can go back and try running the old version by downloading this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5i5d5cz5d6hmow2/shanghaied2.0.1.zip?dl=1 You may to manually overwrite your Technic folder though. Sorry for the inconvenience.
I just remembered that the previous version didn't register creepers in the First Blood quest, which I didn't fix due to the update superseding it. I've just gone back and fixed it and uploaded again so to get a proper fully working copy you'll need to download the 2.0.1 version again. I'd be interested in hearing how you get on. Cheers....

the quest first blood is bugged for me. i have gotten to the part of the quest where i must kill skeletons and creepers. it tally's the skeletons but not creepers. i am playing on the Savannah template if that helps

Turns out the Easy crafting table removes items that take damage when used like the kitchen wizz so I've removed it, sigh. If you have the version with the easy crafting table, you can re-download to get the update that has removed it again. There's only about a dozen packs that have been downloaded that have it. Sorry bout that..........

I have added a new mod and made some adjustments version 2.0.0 especially the Sky Platform quests. If you want the latest, i suggest you re-download the pack. If yours has an EASY CRAFTING TABLE then you already have the latest......

Has the piston recipe somehow been altered? I'm not being allowed to make one, which is hindering my Wizz making progress.

The piston recipe is exactly the same as before. You can look up how to make recipes when you're in your inventory. There should be a bunch of items showing on the right and a section below the inventory you can click on and type in the item you want to make. When it shows on the right you can 'left' click on it to show its recipe. Right clicking on it shows what it can make. If you've managed to accidentally turn it off and nothing is showing. Press the 'o' key. You need to do the first 4 Aether quests to get that Nether gate open. Its the actual Sheepie quest that opens it.
I put the piston recipe down in my crafting table exactly as it shows in NEI (I actually shift-clicked the ?) and it doesn't allow me to have a piston from it. I ended up just cheating myself one.
There are 2 other possibilities I can think of that might have prevented you making the piston. The first is if you tried using Aether or fusewood planks as they don't make pistons or if the iron ingot you used came from a mob drop and its designated 265 ID had been changed to something like 265:1 which sometimes happens and can't be used to craft until you convert it into nuggets and then back into an ingot. Apart from that you should have been able to make a piston and if you still can't make one using minecraft or most natura planks then you might have a corrupted pack. Either way, the new update is out and I think its worth checking out especially as it now allows piston crafting with the ingot and redstone reversed. Best of all, no more quest gates!

The quest walls [gates] remain impassible until a specific quest is completed eg: the gates blocking the glowstone portal only open after the 'Ore Inspiring' quest is completed so concentrate on doing as many quests as you can. You brought up a good point and I'll include info about the gates in the Disclaimer for the update.

I've been enjoying this modpack, but I've reached a point where I'm stuck and basically just waiting for my resources to grow. It's getting a bit boring. I don't understand the solid wall/quest portals and I haven't been able to find much info on them. If I knew what to do with those, I could move on. Can anyone help me with this?

since no one seems to ever come onto this page I decided to update the pack as I've made over 25 incremental changes since releasing version 1.0.2. A quick test you can do to see if you have all of the changes is to see how many ways it shows to make wax. If yours includes using a SAG mill then you should update to 1.0.3

I have made some adjustments to the pack and if you want the latest changes you'll need to re-install version 1.0.2. Players who have a working recipe for FISH and CHIPS already have it. NB: Make sure you backup any saves before updating. Cheers....
