Greetings and Welcome!
We at Viper-Craft have been long-time supporters and users of both the Tekkit and Feed The Beast (FTB) launchers, as well as their high-quality mod packs. There have been many mod packs we’ve enjoyed over the years, but not a single one that had everything we were looking for. The solution? Build our own mod pack specifically for our own use!
So, you might ask, why are we publically hosting and advertising this mod pack instead of keeping it private? Put simply, we don’t believe any mod pack should be kept private. Every pack has a unique experience that others might enjoy!
How did we go about making this mod pack? Well, it was quite a complex process and took several days to complete. We started out by selecting a mod pack we already enjoyed and that had a lot of what we were looking for. In our case it was a well liked mod pack from the FTB launcher. We then stripped out everything we didn’t like about the pack, which was actually a surprising amount, including several mods that could easily generate a ridiculous amount of worlds (Lookin at you Mystcraft and Dimension Doors).
Once we had the mod pack trimmed down we began rebuilding it by adding in mods like Biomes O' Plenty, Ars Magica 2, Thermal Expansion, IC2, and a few others that we had run across over the years and had fond memories of. We then asked our players what they would like to see more of, and based on their answers we sought out mods that would suit them like DecoCraft for roleplay realism and Archimedes’ Ships for transportation. We then ran the mod pack through heavy testing via single-player, a locally hosted server, and a professionally hosted server. Once we were satisfied with the results, we sought out the proper permissions from the mod developers and began hosting our mod pack through the Technic Launcher.
In the end, what we ended up with was a mod pack and server that suited both our desires as well as the wishes of those who played on our server. We’re supremely happy with this outcome and will continue to develop this modpack for the enjoyment of our players. We welcome you to tag along and enjoy the experience as well either through single-player or via your own Viper-Craft Galaxy server.
Happy gaming, from the Players and Staff of Viper-Craft!

UPDATE: 31/12/2016
Well folks, it's the end of 2016 and what a year it's been. We've got something special planned to ring in the new year, but it probably won't be ready at the stroke of midnight.
We're fairly happy with how VCG (1.6.9) has functioned over the past 8 months for both players and server owners alike. We feel at this stage, and with our final update of all the mods in the mod pack we can be happy and consider version 1.7 as the final version. The vast majority of mods available for this pack have now either moved onto newer versions of Minecraft, or their developers have discontinued work on them.
"But Viper, when I run the server/client it says there are mod updates?"
Yes, we realize some of the mods in this pack will still be reporting as outdated. Many mods do a self-check on themselves to see if there is a newer version. These checks do not take into account which version of Minecraft you're running. Thus the update it's detecting could be for Minecraft 1.8 or newer, but since we're using Minecraft 1.7.10 that update won't work for this mod pack. In short, you'll always have mods reporting that updates exist, even if they can't be used with this mod pack. It's just something you'll have to live with, or you can simply disable the update check in those specific mod's config files.
That said, we're ready to move on to bigger and better things. Just on the horizon is the launch of Viper-Craft Galaxy 2, designed for Minecraft 1.10.2, and we're really excited about it!
Keep an eye out for it on the Technic launcher within the next day or two, you won't be disappointed!
