YaoPack updated to version 4.0.0
I'm happy to announce that the Yao Pack 4.0.0 is finally here!
4.0 is the next major release to Yao Pack, and the first major update in nearly two years. This update adds many awesome new mods, and makes a lot of changes and new additions (and some removals and replacements) to make Yao Pack up to date with the latest and greatest modpacks out there. And of course, it still has all the mods you know and love like IndustrialCraft, Mekanism, GalactiCraft, Thaumcraft, Electroblob’s Wizardry, Twilight Forest etc.
>>>>> What’s new in 4.0? <<<<<
Almost everything! And yet, most of it stays the same. See, the changes done in 4.0 are large but I’ve tried my absolute hardest to try and keep that same feeling of Yao Pack 3.x intact. Almost all the classic mods are still here, but they’ve been updated to their latest versions and some have been modified slightly to play even better. There are 50+ new biomes, new dimensions and vastly improved terrain and world generation overall. Caves are now much larger and more fun to explore, and performance has also been boosted, and stability should (hopefully) be better as well compared to 3.x, which has issues with compatibility between several mods.
>>>>> What are the new mods? <<<<<
I’ll give you a list, but keep in mind there’s a lot that's tweaked in existing mods as well!
+ Additional Hooks
+ Artifacts
+ Attribute Fix
+ Better Nether (Paired with NetherEx)
+ BetterCaves
+ BetterMineshafts
+ Oh The Biomes You’ll Go (Paired with BoP)
+ Blue Skies
+ Bountiful Baubles
+ Cherished Worlds
+ Chunk Animator
+ Forbidden & Arcanus
+ ItemPhysics Lite (Replacing ItemPhysics Full, it’s now only visual)
+ JustEnoughIDs (Replacing NotEnoughIDs)
+ Mystical Agradditions
+ Simple Storage Network
+ SimplyJetpacks 2
+ Spartan Addon for Ice & Fire
+ Spartan Shields
+ Stygian - End Expansion
+ Traverse
+ Mixin Booter
+ Millenaire (Replacing Minecolonies)
+ Performant
...and more!
...phew! And that’s just the new mods. Over 30 other mods have been updated and re-configured as well, which should add new stuff and hopefully fix some bugs, too!
Other than that, some mods have unfortunately had to be removed. This includes TheBetweenlands, which bloated the file size of the pack and wasn’t played much by most players, Minecolonies which caused lag and didn’t really fit the pack’s theme well, as well as Antique Atlas which served little purpose when Journeymap exists. These mods may be missed by some, but I’m sure it’s for the best that they’re left out of Yao Pack for now and in the future (things might change though, you never know!). And besides, they have all been more or less replaced by better mods in some way in this update, so it's not that much of a loss either way!
*Since this update to Yao Pack modifies terrain generation and several major mods, I highly recommend that you start a new world for this version. You can of course continue to play on your old worlds with this new version, but there may be unforeseen issues doing so and some of the new features from new mods may not work as intended. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR WORLDS BEFORE LOADING THEM IN THIS NEW VERSION!! You can easily update your servers accordingly using the updated server builder which for 4.0 which you can download from the modpack page here on technicpack.net!
