FYI: I figured out while working on the tutorial world that putting water in a passive Big Reactor is dumb, dumb, dumb. It's worse than air. I state to do it in the final Big Reactor quest. I think I will get my local copy back to 1.5.0.2 condition so I can make these fixes and make a 1.5.0.3 hotfix. Meanwhile, take the water out of your passive reactors.
before I played this modpack, I tried finding a let's play on youtube. I never found one...
so I decided to make one since It seemed like the perfect way to start my channel. If Rocko or anyone else is interested, heres's my channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoFEi6yjdEJTCGSW7CRd8Og
im an experienced minecraft play but an amateur on camera. anyways ive played a lot of modpacks but the more I play this one the more I fall in love. Congratulations Rocko and keep up the good work!
Oh that's great! My wife finally got a chance to see what I've been up to! I saw a little of it and she watched what you had so far.
For reference, my wife is terrified with how much the stuff I wrote in the HQM matches the way I speak.
haha I enjoy it. plenty of lulz. (a few typos here and there) ive been a little bit busy but there are episodes recorded and ready to be uploaded once I decide to get to it
I'm loving the pack as the frustrated noob that I tend to be has been silenced by the ease with which you make things just flow together. I would LOVE to see more of the magical-natured mods in this pack because, as bad as I am with tech, I'm even worse with magic. Most modpacks, even my (now 2nd) favorite one, have some sort of magic element that just drives me bananas. Well done, and keep up the good work!
Final Thought: If you ever do put up a dedicated server, it would be good to add it into the server list as a default. I don't know how to do that but it makes it really convenient for us players that prefer groups and have trouble with LANs.
Regarding my last comment: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF MINECRAFT AND ITS NOOBS ADD THOSE MODS. :D Sorry for the caps...i've just been waiting for something like this for so long. This modpack has been my savior and I'm really enjoying the quest lines too! :D Keep up the great work, all the noobs will benefit from this. Thank you for the reply. :)
Moms and dads: Submit your screen name and URL to your Minecraft skin so I can put you in the Dad Bar: http://i.imgur.com/Wh2KL8b.png
Do you have any plans to make any other modpack with tutorials like this? They are SO helpful noobs xD. I find that HQM is a great way to teach harder mods by having the user actually do it themselves. Anyways, love it!
For now, I'm just cramming everything into this pack. I had pondered throwing in Thaumcraft at some point; I even have some of the requisite puns lined up. I have stopped for the moment because I feel like there needs to be an interactive area to see some of the less trivial things in action. I picked up on a lot of this stuff from seeing other people's setups on servers. I was hoping to have a single-player equivalent that avoids watching 30 minute videos on YouTube about somebody's base with 30 seconds of the topic at hand somewhere towards the end. The next things are going to be more advanced Big Reactors, RFTools (since it's going in the pack for the tutorial dimension anyways), and maybe some moonbase stuff.
Is there a resource pack for this?
Nope. That's a domain where I have zero experience. Though to be fair, it never occurred to me to try to collaborate with somebody to make one. I think I will want to act on that while creating the start tutorial dimension for future releases.
I use BDcraft + the patch for "The 1.7.10 Pack" for Ressource Packs and it cover almost every mod.
Thank you Rocko for this modpack, perfect for returning to minecraft :)
Check your worlds and get your complaints in now, because I'm intend to bury my head in the sand for over a month while I work on this tutorial dimension. So in future new games, it would start new players in a tutorial dimension where they can safely read the quest book before jumping to the overworld. The tutorial dimension would include demonstration setups of things like the reactors and the smelteries. This will allow my in good conscience to put in some final challenge quests.
amazing pack.
Thank you!
if there is a server can you tell me the ip of it?
I am starting to create a tutorial world for the pack that will show examples of some of the more complicated things. Due to all the dads that seem to be involved in the game, I'll be having an NPC dad bar too. If you are a dad, I'd be interested in your in-game name and a URL to your player skin so I can put you down in the Dad Bar.
Actually, I'd also be interested in a Mom Bar, but it just has not come up yet. :(
were can i find the server at
I don't run a dedicated server off of the pack. It does have the server files for anybody that wants to host it (there are a few people who have done this, I've discovered).
Lagggggggggg....
...what?
Everytime I try to Install the mod pack I get a broken API link. Any way to fix this?
Broken API links sound like Technic platform problems. Do you have problems with installing any other packs too?
The one time it happened to me, I restarted the Technic launcher. I have a tendency to keep mine running for weeks on end.
Is there somewhere to mention broken quests? There are one or two I can think of that won't complete, and some of the quest rewards are really funky.
You can complain here. If you want to be really formal, there's a GitHub with the config files, and you can file issues there. https://github.com/rockobonaparte/bfsr
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tvmi09qvkz0a4d3/server%2020150803.zip?dl=1 is from a few months ago, may we get a server link (preferably an Official Server Download on this very page, a la http://www.technicpack.net/modpack/modderation-permabanned-edition.449941 ;)) for BFSR 1.5.0.0? Been reading about this on some awesome forum elsewhere and wanting to give it a try for my children (4y and 7y). They love Blightfall, but it's a bit complicated for them and I'm hoping this will give them more in-game guidance, plus incentive to read outside of their homework and children's books. :)
I'm slowly banging one into shape. Due to the mod refresh, I have a lot of files to update to the server pack, and I'm in Client-Only Mod Hell right now.
Well here we go: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r7lnuylh1hw3ef4/server%201.5.0.0%2020151201.zip?dl=1
Awesome, thank you very much Rocko! :)
Is there some way to decrease the number of lava pools that spawn on the surface?
Open the mod's installation folder, and go specifically to config\cofg\world\Surface Deposits.json. There you will see an entry for "surface_lava." You can halve numClusters from 2 to 1, and if that is insufficient, delete the entry completely.
I normally recommend playing with ATG; the lava ponds are less numerous. The vanilla terrain generator provides more opportunities for the generator rules to trigger.
I will be trying to make some releases on the pack in advance of the major US holidays. That is, I'm hoping I can throw up a release with basic fixes and maybe one new advanced quest chapter before Thanksgiving. I'm hoping to them go nuts before Christmas and get into advanced automation quests and more obscure mod tricks. I had just finished playing Blightfall, so I am pondering Thaumcraft and Botania too, but one thing at a time.
There will first be a release with just quest book fixes and updated mods. In particular, I hope it takes care of corruption issues I heard about on Something Awful.
Hello. I'm having some problems setting up the server. I looked up the forge version the modpack uses, downloaded it, installed the server, copied the mods and gave it some ram. But, every time I launch it, I get an error saying this after ~10 seconds: http://tinyurl.com/bfsrcrashreport (google drive). Thank you for your time.
The link is a 404 for some reason. Try this one: https://googledrive.com/host/0BwXh9sGiOJlNU3E3WnFyNVg2M1k
There are a few changes to the modlist you have to make to launch it as a server. That error log--for whatever reason--doesn't seem to say which one it is angry about. Anyways, I have a server archive you should try to use first:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/tvmi09qvkz0a4d3/server%2020150803.zip?dl=1
When I try to launch, it just crashes right back to the launcher
same here
Can you paste the latest client log, if there is one?
I have no idea what it could be, and I can't test client launching right now since my Internet connection is too crap to try downloading the pack from the site directly. I'd need to do that rather than use my local copy to see if something really went downhill. I can try it in the next 48 hours though.
