There is a new version out for 1.6.4 "High Effieciency - Extended"
High Efficiency aims to be a lightweight industrial modpack. It's based on Minecraft 1.5.2 and gets nearly instantly updated if there is a new modversion. There are also a few performance mods in it and Highlands for better landscapes.
The new biomes in version 1.10 are an addition that can be selected at world creating. The config make them slightly smaller so there should be more variety.
[code]If you want them on your server you have to edit the following line in your server.properties file:
level-type=DEFAULT
to:
level-type=HIGHLANDS
or for large biomes:
level-type=HIGHLANDS_LB[/code]
